Moving to London has completely changed my outlook on pubs. After spending three years at Exeter University and finding myself in a club at least three times I week, I have done enough clubbing for a lifetime. Now, I prefer the calm buzz of a London pub. A perfect place to meet up with friends, given that so many of mine are busy starting new jobs, internships and masters programs, a pub is hard to beat for any evening out. A pub is versatile in its nature, nevertheless, each pub brings a different vibe according to what you are looking for. Simultaneously, a pub could be an ideal location for a chilled catch-up on a week night, or a place to begin an evening on a weekend before heading out with a group of friends. A pub’s versatility is endless. This post recommends a few of my favourite pubs in London.
The Latchmere, Battersea
Where I regularly meet my friends in the heart of Battersea, The Latchmere is a large pub with a big outdoor space comprised of a heated courtyard, al fresco snug and a sun terrace. This is makes it very unique, considering its location. While being spacious inside it maintains a cosy, homey pub feel. The Latchmere is a perfect location for a chilled catch up with friends in the winter, or a boozy day in the sunshine in the summer. They have a wide range of drinks, as well as delicious food. Sometimes they even have 50% off all food offer! They do a pub quiz every Monday, making it a fun friendly and inclusive atmosphere.

The Windsor Castle, Kensington
This has been one of my long standing favourite pubs in London. The Windsor Castle has a small, cozy interior and with a cute, sheltered beer garden out the back. This pub is perfect for an afternoon, or evening, drink on a long summer night. This is a perfect place to go with family, friends or on a date.

The Flask, Highgate
This is the perfect pub for a Sunday. As a young person in London, sometimes it is hard to wind down and relax. One of my favourite ways to chill out is a long walk on Hampstead Heath, one of the biggest outdoor natural spaces in London, and then a pint and some Sunday lunch at The Flask. Part of the Fuller’s pub chain, The Flask has a cozy interior and and lovely, outdoor beer garden, perfect for a summer afternoon.

The Northcote, Clapham Junction
Unlike the other pubs I have recommended in this blog post, The Northcote is an ideal location for a buzzy Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. The Northcote is always full and has an exciting, young and energetic atmosphere, where you are almost guaranteed to make friends with other like-minded young people. Although hard to find a table at peak times, the music is loud and the drinks are not too expensive, given its in the heart of Clapham. I would recommend to anyone looking for a exciting beginning to a night out.
